Time has passed quickly since the last update on the sock monkeys...and it's now only 3 days to go before our group sets off for Tanzania, and begins the trek to Kilimanjaro!!!

A brief glimpse of blue skies on Snowdon

I have to say my training regime didn't quite take off the way I planned...apart from a short and rainy walk up Snowdon and a potter around some smaller hills on a couple of occasions. Although I'm hoping the sky will be a bit bluer in Africa, the thought of below freezing temperatures and 50% oxygen availability combined with trekking up the highest mountain on the continent is filling me both excitement and terror.

Thank you to everyone who has been offering amazing support to myself and my fellow trekkers, and to all those who have contributed to global women's health by entering my treasure map competition, adopting sock monkeys, or just donating generously!

Edith, Martha and Rose are the latest monkeys to be made...but (providing I survive the trek ahead) they will not be the last! Check out the home page to see which monkeys are still available.

Last time there were in Africa they had a rather more relaxing time than we have planned for next week - see the next post to see some of their holiday adventures in Malawi!

I'll try to keep the blog a bit more up to date in the last couple of days of preparation and of course when I return there will be news of how far up the mountain I made it and a photo or two....
