They have been a little while coming but the first sock monkeys are officially ready to go to their new homes. Hopefully the first of many, and they will raise lots of money to go towards helping women's health worldwide.

Yesterday Preston rotary club were kind enough to host me at their weekly meeting, and I did a presentation on maternal and women's health worldwide - in hindsight it was slightly ambitious to try cover all of that in just half an hour - but I gave them an overview at least!
Here is the video that I ended the talk with, all about obstetric fistula - a condition which affects the lives of 50,000 to 100,000 women world wide each year, and causes enormous distress.
“Life is appalling for women with fistula: they are wet all the time; they smell; they are stigmatised, isolated and rejected by society. Fistula is treatable and preventable”
I found this map from http://www.globalfistulamap.org/ showing the countries where this is mostly a problem - as is often the case, some of the countries with the most limited resources to tackle the problem.

Hopefully we can work together to improve the lives of women such as these!
Anyway suddenly the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro in 4 months time is seeming slightly more real and I think I should probably stop sitting at a computer and get training...
Hopefully I'll have some more monkeys to introduce you to soon! :)
